The community is coming together to serve a widow and raise funds for women who have aged out of foster care. You are invited to join!
Doing something extraordinary for someone else may lead to one of the best feelings imaginable.
But that’s not the only reason to join us for this year’s Widow Project!
Serving a Widow
On July 20th, a group of amazing volunteers will be coming together to bless a local widow by completing several tasks around her home that are simply too much for her to tackle on her own.
Alona M. was widowed unexpectedly in November of 2022 when her husband of 34 years passed away shortly after being diagnosed with cancer. Although she had recently retired, Alona found it necessary to return to her previous company in a full-time capacity.
This kind of story may be familiar to many of us. Or, it may be a fear as we imagine one day finding ourselves in a similar situation, especially if our support circle might be lacking.
Hope + Vine believes we are all called to serve. This calling includes bringing a community together to be a blessing to others.
This is where the Widow Project comes in.
How it Works
Similar to a walk-a-thon, volunteers are sponsored by their friends and family, as well as local businesses, in support of the time and work they dedicate to this project. These volunteers commit their efforts to help us raise funds to continue the mission of Hope + Vine–equipping women who have aged out of the foster care system to live with purpose and freedom.
Community comes together. Partnerships are created. A widow is served. Funds are raised. And our blessings are invested in the kingdom!
