Supportive Community
Up until this year, we were able to provide this support as needs have been presented. However, in order to better serve these women, and additional women in the near future, we needed to formalize our method.
Inspiring Hope Collective
This is why we launched our Life Skill Intensives in addition to the employment we provide. One day a week, we gather in the “living room” inside our studio space. This day consists of classes and discussion to dive deeper into these topics. These intensives will address each of our key seven areas and provide better success for the participants.
We call it: The Inspiring Hope Collective
It is a collective of instructors and community organizations/members coming together to teach a collective of skills and topics to a collective of women, each with their own story.
Making Necessary Adjustments
Pretty quickly we knew we needed to make some adjustments. The participants needed additional time between classes to absorb, decompress, and be in the right mindset for the next class. They need time for discussion as a group, and time to meet one-on-one.
Most importantly, we adjusted the way we talked about the classes. These are not just “life skills”. These are personal development classes, and with our specialized teachers and coaches, the participants are being equipped with the tools and support they need to help them on their journey to thriving.
Current and Future Classes
Class topics are offered on a rotating basis. So far this year, the participants have been attending:
-
Fitness classes and learning about nutrition.
“I’m motivated to do more exercising even if it is just the little things like standing longer, or dancing with my daughter. I have more energy and feel better.” -
Financial coaching.
“Not only am I about to pay off all my debt, but I’m also teaching these concepts to my family members.” -
Learning about how the nervous system and how trauma impacts our physical bodies.
“Understanding this concept gives me the ability to recognize patterns and make changes. I’m able to use physical movement to regulate my body.” -
Learning how the Lord redeems in the Pain to Purpose bible study.
“The study brings all of the components throughout the day together. And it is a reminder that God is walking with me through my journey.”
Coming up in the next several weeks there will be workshops on:
-
Dating Red Flags
-
Decluttering
-
Home Repairs
-
Employer Expectations
